To restore the RuleTrader Test or Live Historical Chart, please follow these steps. If you need any help with this procedure or would like one of our staff to do it for you, please don’t hesitate to contact RuleTrader support at support@ruletrader.co.uk:

1. If the Chart window is missing entirely, then right-click anywhere in the main ShareScope window area and select New Window, then Historical Graph.
2. If the window is still there but it has turned into another type of window, then right-click on the window and select Change Window, then Historical Graph. If you cannot see a Change Window option, then click on the tiny padlock icon with a red background, in the top-right corner of the window’s border.

In the menu that appears, click on Lock Window then uncheck Lock Window in the dialog that appears and click Ok, then right-click on the window and select Change Window, then Historical Graph. If the Historic Graph option is not available, move to step 3, next, otherwise move to step 4:

3. If the Historic Graph option is ‘greyed-out’, indicating it is disabled, then close the window by clicking the ‘X’ in the top-right corner. In the space left, select New Window, then Historical Graph.

4. Once you have the Historical Graph window, you may then need to right-click on the window title area and select AutoLink, to link the Chart to the Share List window. You may also wish to uncheck Show title bar, to give yourself a bit more room for the chart.

5. Often, the new Chart window will already be showing the Chart Panel in the top-left corner, with the title RuleTrader Test or RuleTrader Live. If that is the right title for the current RuleTrader layout, then you’re good to go. If it isn’t, then right-click on the window and select Other Main Chart Features, then ShareScript Studies:

6. In the ShareScript Study Manager dialog that appears, click the Remove All button if any chart studies are already listed, then click the Add button:

7. This will display the Add ShareScript Study dialog, where you can select RuleTrader Test, if you’re in the Test Session layout, or RuleTrader Live for the Live session layout. Click Ok once you’ve made your selection:

8. You should then see the Chart Panel appear in the top-left corner of the Chart. You can size and position the Chart window by dragging its borders and the window’s title bar (which you can remove, if you like, by right-clicking the title bar and unchecking Show Title Bar).

9. It is then a very good idea to lock your Chart settings to prevent inadvertent changes happening again (though unfortunately this won’t stop ShareScope instigated changes). To do this, click the tiny padlock icon, which now has a green background, in the top left corner of the window’s border. In the menu that appears, click on Lock Window and ensure that, in the dialog that appears, the following options are checked:

• Lock window
• Prevent changes to:
  • Moving, resizing, deleting
  • View – Historical Graph
  • Setting – RT/Live Chart (or RT/Test Chart in Test sessions)
