AutoTrend Settings
These settings are all related to the operation of RuleTrader’s AutoTrend Price Channel system.
Trend Channel Settings
- Backfill period: The period over which a share’s AutoTrend price channels are backfilled, before the trading rules are evaluated against these shares. This usually happens when the share is first selected for a strategy’s trading list (see Backfilling)
- Trend growth thresholds: Thresholds used to determine when a channel is rising, flat, or falling
- Trend swing thresholds: Thresholds used to determine if a channel is swinging up or down, or is unchanged
- Trend stability thresholds: Threshold used to differentiate between an Established price channel and an Evolving channel (see Channel Life-Cycle)
Named Band Settings
- Named band edge offsets: These settings allow you to specify the location of the boundaries between each named band, as a channel standard deviation offset from either the channel’s trend-line or confidence lines (see Named Bands)
Trend, Price Swing & Turning Point Analysis
Provided the currently selected Trading Spec uses medium and/or long term channels, then the date associated with those channels (e.g. gradient, growth rate, length, turning point locations, swing gradient and growth rate, and swing length) can be capture and analysed by clicking the Capture Data button.
Once the test is complete, this same button then allows you to run an analysis on that data, which generates a report in the Console. It can be useful for determining if the band offsets are correctly set, and for getting a feel for typical trend and price-swing lengths and growth rates.
