Resource Settings

These settings allow you to control the computer resources that RuleTrader uses, which can avoid errors, save disk space and accelerate the speed that session files are saved and loaded.

  • Memory Saving Settings: During back-tests over long periods when a large number of shares may be selected by your Trading Spec, a lot of system memory can be used to store all the data that is inevitably generated during the back-test (this is rarely an issue in live sessions). To prevent this causing out of memory errors in ShareScope, these settings specify the actions to take to conserve system memory, if the number of shares in your trading system’s trading list (combined across all strategies) exceeds the thresholds you specify here.
  • Disk Saving Settings: Session data files, particularly those resulting from long back-tests, can become quite large. The biggest culprit is the data that is saved for historical channels (i.e. all those previous channels other than the current channel). As there are more of the shorter time-period channels (e.g. micro and short), you can save a lot of disk space by checking the options to not save this type of historical channel. It will also significantly increase the speed that these files are saved to and loaded from disk.
